Margie Perez grew up in the DC suburbs on a musical diet of classic rock and Cuban rhythms — the daughter of Havana-born parents who made sure she knew Celia Cruz and Johnny Pacheco just as well as she knew the Beatles. That mash-up became her signature: a genre-defying blend of blues, pop, and Latin music, all delivered with the funky, easygoing swagger of her adopted hometown, New Orleans.
